celld, with fork-specific fixes and features
This site documents what changes in ewhauser/celld. For getting started with celld, Workers APIs, storage configuration, and ordinary fleet operation, use the main celld documentation.
What the fork adds
Section titled “What the fork adds”| Area | Changes | Documentation |
|---|---|---|
| Recovery | Keep unavailable witnesses undecided; bind recovery requests to members and disks; handle replacement disks. | Recovery fixes |
| Idle fleets | Detect failed follower probes and reconfigure the ensemble without waiting for writes. | Idle-follower fix |
| Actor storage | Roll back transactions left open by an aborted actor, and release the queue place of a transaction whose block is retired. | Transaction fixes |
| Peer calls | Close idle pooled peer tunnels and bound each peer reply, so a silently dead network path cannot hang a call. | Peer tunnel fix |
| Development previews | Deploy isolated previews and seed them from approved persisted object checkpoints. | Preview workflow |
| Observability | Export node gauges and cell CPU and heap distributions through OTLP. | Metrics |
| Change export | Stream cell changes to a bucket or Kafka and audit a Snowflake copy. The Kafka sink and Snowflake audit require the -kafka variant; the separate loader is a source build. |

Releases and compatibility
Section titled “Releases and compatibility”The documented release baseline is v0.6.2-ewhauser.4, based on upstream v0.6.2. Fork builds are published as prereleases. The Snowflake path has been tested against an emulator. Check the release notes and the published artifacts before upgrading.
The move from 0.5.1 fork builds to 0.6.0 requires a full stop for fleets using peer-disk durability. Install and upgrade covers the boundary.
Companion projects
Section titled “Companion projects”The celld operator manages Kubernetes fleets and preview resources. The compatibility results come from the TCK in this repository, run on main. Check the exact version and commit behind a result when evaluating a release.
